Iron Pigs 5, Herd 3

A Bisons comeback bid fell two runs short Wednesday night at Coca-Cola Field as the Herd fell, 5-3, to the Lehigh Valley IronPigs.
The game was delayed in the bottom of the ninth with two-out and a 3-0 count on Jesus Feliciano with the tying run waiting on deck. The umpires called for the tarp as the steady rain turned into a downpour.
When play resumed an hour and 10 minutes later, Feliciano walked and pinch-hitter Robinson Cancel lined an 0-2 pitch to center that Jason Ellison was able to track down for the final out of the game.
Buffalo fell behind 5-0 after the top of the sixth inning but rallied to score one run in the sixth and two runs in the seventh to pull within two.
Rene Rivera led off the seventh with a double down the left field line. Feliciano followed suit dropping a double of his own inside the left field foul line to score Rivera from second.
After a wild pitch, pinch-hitter Jason Cooper knocked in Feliciano with an RBI groundout.
Connor Robertson kept the Herd in the game in the eighth by striking out back-to-back I-Pigs with runners on first and third and one out.
Lehigh Valley starter Kyle Kendrick (4-3) earned the win tossing six innings, allowing three runs on nine hits.
Lehigh Valley plated three runs in the fourth on RBI hits by David Newhan and Paul Hoover.
The IronPigs pushed their lead to 5-0 on a pair of solo home runs in the top of the sixth inning by Paul Hoover and Jeremy Slayden.
Bisons' starter Jonathon Niese (0-4) went six innings, allowing five runs on seven hits.
The Bisons wrap up their eight-game home stand tomorrow against Lehigh Valley at 1:05 p.m. The Herd will send RHP Nelson Figueroa (0-3, 2.65) to the hill against LHP Antonio Bastardo (0-0, 4.50).
Bisons Notes:INF Argenis Reyes extended his hitting streak to eight games with a single in the first inning. He now holds the longest hitting streak of the season for the Bisons. Reyes is hitting .344 (11-32) during the streak which started on May 19 ...With a single in the sixth inning INF Javier Valentin has now reached base safely in nine straight games for the Herd.
