St. Lucie 6, Clearwater 0

Beat Clearwater on Sunday, 6-0.

-2B prospect Greg Veloz is a streaky hitter and it looks like he’s off and running on one of his tears. Veloz had hit .297 in the past 10 games, going into Sunday. He went 4-5 on Sunday, raising his BA to a respectable .255.

OF Matt Wilson played Sunday in his return to the Mets organization. Originally, Watson was traded to the Mets, along with P Scott Strickland and P Phil Seibel, in exchange for P Bruce Chen, P Dicky Gonzalez, IF Luis Figueroa, and P Saul Rivera. Wilson went 2-3 (.667).

SP Brad Holt went into Sunday’s game with a 3-1, 3.12 record, which included an April 9 disaster that started him off with a 22.09 ERA. After throwing 6.0 more scoreless innings on Sunday, Holt’s record minus opening day: 37.2 IP - 26 H - 5 ER - 6 BB - 45 K - 1.12 ERA

RP Brant Rustich relieved Holt Sunday, dispelling rumors that he would be returning to a starter roll. He’s doing just fine as a reliever, posting a 2.15 ERA in the last ten games before Sunday’s match. Today, he tossed three more scoreless innings, lowering his yearly ERA to 2.03.
