Binghamton Game Notes

LAST GAME:

The B-Mets jumped on the Baysox early last
night, getting out to an early 4-1 lead after three innings, but
Bowie scored the next five runs unanswered en route to a 6-4
triumph over Binghamton. The win clinched the series for the
Baysox, two games to one. The B-Mets brought two across in
the first inning, courtesy of RBI singles from D.J. Wabick and
Carlos Guzman off starter Fredy Deza. After Bowie plated a
single run in the second, Binghamton played a little long ball
with solo homers from Wabick and Guzman to lead 4-1. Lefty
Edgar Alfonzo made the spot start in place of Dylan Owen and
tossed three innings of one-run ball. However, Jake Ruckle,
who followed Alfonzo, did not have similar luck. Ruckle gave
up a solo homer to the first batter he faced in the fourth, Eric
Crozier, which was a sign of things to come. Later on in the
frame, Steve Torrealba smacked a three-run shot to left to
vault the Baysox into the lead, 5-4. Josh Bell put the finishing
touches on the game with a solo homer in the fifth. Ruckle
was charged with the loss for allowing five runs in three innings.
Deza was credited with the win, despite allowing four
runs in five innings on nine hits. Bowie’s bullpen was the real
hero, the men of the pen tossed four, hitless innings to seal
up the win. Luis Lebron struck out the side in the ninth for his
seventh save.
