LAST GAME: Brandon Crawford’s eighth-inning homer off Josh

Stinson pushed Richmond over the hump for a 3-2 victory

over Binghamton Monday night at NYSEG Stadium. The opposite

field shot was the second of two homers for the Flying

Squirrels on the night, Thomas Neal took starter Mike Antonini

deep in the first innings to get Richmond on the board. Antonini

earned a no-decision with a quality start of six innings,

in which he allowed two runs on seven hits with a season-best

seven strikeouts. The B-Mets got him off the hook in the fifth

with a two-out rally off Squirrels’ starter David Mixon. Binghamton

strung three straight, two-out hits together to plate a

pair of runs. Mike Nickeas and Carlos Guzman plated runs

with RBI singles. Mixon went 5.2 innings, allowed two runs

and walked a season-high three men for a no-decision. Jake

Stevens got the win in relief and Rafael Cova stranded the

tying run in scoring position in consecutive innings to nail

down his ninth save in as many chances.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Eddie Kunz will make his

ninth start of the year tonight. He was hung with a loss in his

last start May 20 versus Bowie. The converted reliever

coughed up five runs, four earned, on a season-high eight

hits. Kunz is 3-3 with a 6.34 ERA over 38.1 innings of work.

Last year, Kunz made 40 appearances for Buffalo (AAA) with a

4-5 mark and a 5.02 ERA in 61 innings. He functioned as the

B-Mets closer in 2008 when he racked up 27 saves. The

righty was taken by the Mets in the second round (42nd overall)

in the 2007 draft.

LHP Craig Clark will take the hill for his ninth turn in the rotation.

He has not allowed an earned run in his last two starts,

spanning 10.2 innings. Clark pitched to a no-decision May 20

versus Erie with 5.2 innings of one-run work on four hits. The

southpaw is 2-2 with a 3.46 ERA over 39 innings. Named the

California League Pitcher of the Year after going 16-2 with a

2.86 ERA in 26 appearances, 25 starts, over 147.2 innings

with San Jose (High-A). Drafted by San Francisco in the 14th

round of the June 2007 draft out of Penn State.
