Press Release: - Kingsport 5, Burlington 2

After a very clean game through seven and a half innings, Kingsport took advantage of one bad inning for the Royals.

Aided by four errors, the Mets scored four times in the eighth inning to stun the Royals 5-2 Wednesday night at Hunter-Wright Stadium. Leading 2-1, the Royals (29-33) sent Cole Lohden (1-4) to the mond for his second inning of work. After loading the bases in the bottom of the seventh and escaping, Lohden allowed a game-tying RBI triple to Albert Cordero. Following a walk to Nelfi Zapata, John Semel singled up the middle to drive in Cordero. Zapata ended up coming around to score after a pair of errors on the play, the second and third defensive miscues of the frame. Charlie Hinojosa drove in the fourth and final run of the inning to finish up the scoring for the Mets (27-33).

Burlington outplayed Kingsport until that inning behind Crawford Simmons' six innings of work. The southpaw surrendered only a sacrifice fly to Ismael Tijerina in the fifth. Simmons whiffed four Mets to increase his total to 64, which is one better than Willian Avinazar for the team lead.

The Royals took the lead early on when Yunior Figueroa clubbed his third home run of the season to left in the second off starter Carlos Vazquez.

From there, though, Vazquez, Steve Winnick (1-1) and Joshua Edgin took care of the Royals. Winnick worked the seventh and eighth frames, and Edgin held the Royals scoreless in the ninth for his second save. Burlington only
