Top 100 Cape Cod League prospects – #21-30 - 11-16-10 from: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5114 -

21. JAKE BARRETT, rhp, Brewster White Caps (Arizona State/SO in 2011) Ex-third rounder went 0-2, 1.35, just scratched surface; has projectable frame, raw arm strength (93-95 now, 97 future), 3-pitch mix

22. LOGAN VERRETT, rhp, Chatham Anglers (Baylor/JR in 2011) Went 2-1, 0.87 (41 IP/34 SO) with advanced approach, knack for getting hitters off balance; stuff inconsistent (flashes 93 FB, + SL)

23. RONNIE RICHARDSON, of, Harwich Mariners (Florida/SO in 2011) Draft-eligible SO still developing raw power, plate discipline, but ball jumps off bat (.267-1-9), has ++ speed, accomplished defender

24. GRAYSON GARVIN, lhp, Bourne Braves (Vanderbilt/JR in 2011) League’s pitcher of year (5-0, 0.74); gets good leverage from 6-6 frame, mixes four pitches well, but has modest stuff, FB only 87-91

25. BRADY RODGERS, rhp, Cotuit Kettleers (Arizona State/SO in 2011) Very mature pitcher with ++ control/pitchability; had 5 BB/38 SO in 31 IP; FB peaked at 93-94, froze LH hitters with + breaking ball

29. JOE PANIK, ss, Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox (St. John’s/JR in 2011) Glue to Y-D success; solid approach/feel to hit, flashes power (.276-2-19, 20 BB/12 SO); hands/range equal to any SS in league

30. C.J. CRON, c, Cotuit Kettleers (Utah/JR in 2011) Has excellent hands to hit, can drive balls a long way to oppo field; needs to refine catching actions, learn to stay on top of throws

Daniel Norris:- 11-10-10: - http://www.tossitaround.com/baseball-news/prospect-news/9003-top-70-prospects-for-the-2011-draft-4.html - Daniel Norris is one of the most sensational players to watch on the field and he is only a senior in high school. Norris is a tall left hander as he is listed at 6’2 180 but he has the heart of a champion that he displays both on the field and off of it. Let’s start with his on field accomplishments. Winning has always been at the top of the list for the young left hander. He displayed this most prominently during his junior year when he compiled an 8-0 record with a 1.96 ERA. 11-11-10 from: - http://xmlbscout.angelfire.com - #3 - LHP Daniel Norris Science Hill HS, Johnson City Tenn 6'2 190 - quality lefty with arm strength and arm speed from upper 3/4 slot, also one of top HS QB's in state, tends to open early on occ causing elbow to get under pitches, fb velocity ranges from 88-94, most are 90-91, cb true 2/6 downward plane action and throws strikes but pitches up more than he needs to which could hurt him in pro ball. Pro instruction will be needed to help him repeat his delivery to be effective in pro ball. Stamina also a concern, but has shown 93-94 in 7th inning before on occ.

Mikie Mahtook: - 11-8-10 from: - http://diamondscapescouting.com/rankings_usacnttop15_09082010.html - of Louisiana State (Jr.) - Mahtook is a classic case of big tools yet to be refined. A right fielder last season at LSU and a left fielder with Team USA this summer, Mahtook has the athleticism and footspeed to develop into a serviceable center fielder -- he just needs to make his way onto a team that doesn't already have a premium defender in that spot. Mahtook gets solid reads off the bat and closes well, though his speed doesn't translate on the other side of the field. He is surprisingly slow out of the box and inefficient in his lines on the bases, and while his natural speed helps to counter the ill effects he will need to clean-up this aspect of his game. At the plate he still struggles to barrel the ball consistently with wood, though when he does he produces loud contact, ropes and smiles from evaluators. He is a strong kid with more on the way -- he just needs to clean-up his swing to better utilize that strength. There is work to do on the development side, but Mahtook has the potential payoff of a good defender in right field with plus power, a solid hit tool and above-average defense and arm strength.

Travis Evans: - 11-5-10: - http://www.perfectgame.org/Articles/View.aspx?article=5095 – WWBA stars - LHP Travis Evans (St. Louis Pirates): The 6-1 Evans pitched in the 79-82 mph range at the 2009 16U WWBA National Championships, then missed a big chunk of time earlier this year with elbow tendonitis. The Texas native was pitching “out of area” for the St. Louis Pirates in Jupiter but that didn’t seem to matter, as Evans touched 91 mph with very good running life and solid spin on a 73 mph curveball.
