TODAY’S GAME: This afternoon, the Buffalo Bisons host the Rochester Red Wings in the second game of a four-game series at Coca-Cola Field (1:05 p.m.). The Herd won the series opener last night by a 7-3 score. Buffalo has now won seven of their last 10 games. This is game two of an eight-game homestand as the Bisons host Syracuse, May 1-4.

vs. RED WINGS: The Bisons are 3-2 this season against the Red Wings. The clubs split a four-game set at Frontier Field, April 7-10. Dating back to last season, Buffalo has now won seven straight over the Wings at Coca-Cola Field. At 5-3, the Herd leads the 2012 Thruway Series by a game over Syracuse (4-4).

HUGE HEFNER: RHPJEREMY HEFNER makes his return to the Bisons today. The righty was recalled by the Mets last Monday and made his major league debut that day against San Francisco. Hefner tossed three shutout innings of relief for New York. With the Bisons, Hefner is 2-1 in three starts with the 6th-best ERA (1.96) in the International League.

HOMERING HERD: CLUCAS MAY and INF OMAR QUINTANILLA have both homered in back-to-back games for the Bisons. May now has three homers on the year while Quintanilla has a pair. The Bisons have 28 home runs in 22 games this season, one behind Pawtucket for the IL lead. The 2011 Bisons didn’t hit their 28th home run of the season until May 13.

MLB REHAB: Mets’ OFANDRES TORRES will continue his Major League rehab assignment today. Torres was 0-4 with a walk and a stolen base in his Bisons debut last night. Torres suffered a left calf strain in his Mets’ debut on April 5. He started his rehab at St. Lucie (A) and hit .333 (4-12) in three games.

STREAKIN’: INFVALENTINO PASCUCCI brings an 11-game hit streak into play today. Pascucci has hit .327 (16-49) since April 14 with two home runs and nine RBI. The streak is the second longest active streak in the IL.

BISONS BITS: The Bisons are two games over the .500-mark for the second time this season. Buffalo was 3-1 after four games...OFVINNY ROTTINO can become the second Bison to record a 10-game hit streak. Rottino has averaged .324 (11-34) over the last nine games...INFBOBBY SCALES leads all IL hitters with his .388 batting average.

METS UPDATE: The Mets (11-9) lost to the Rockies, 18-9, last night. New York committed six errors and Colorado struck for 11 runs in the 5th inning. OFSCOTT HAIRSTON had the 10th cycle in Mets history. Former Bisons INF ZACH LUTZ started at first base and picked up his first big league hit. The Mets face the Rockies at 8:10 p.m.
