6:30pm - Binghamton at New Hampshire

LAST GAME: Six different B-Mets collected multiple hits and the bullpen allowed just one run over 5.1 innings in a 9-5 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats last night at NYSEG Sta-dium. Jeff Kaplan and Elvin Ramirez picked up the slack for starter Darin Gorski who allowed four runs on five hits and four walks over 3.2 innings. Kaplan gave up a run over 3.1 innings of work to earn the win. It was his longest outing since 2009. The B-Mets offense supplied more than enough support with 14 hits, one shy of a season. Matt den Dekker collected a dou-ble and a long two-run home run, his eighth multi-hit game in 2012. Elvin Ramirez tossed two perfect innings of relief to close out the victory.

STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Greg Peavey (2-0, 3.14) makes his fourth start as a B-Met. In his last start, he allowed five runs on eight hits over 3.2 innings in a no-decision against the Portland Sea Dogs on April 20. Peavey was bailed out by the bullpen which put up 4.1 innings of shutout relief in the game. A sixth-round draft pick out of Oregon State University, he split last season between the Savannah Sand Gnats (Low-A) and St. Lucie Mets (High-A). In 14 starts in Savannah, he went 6-2 with a 3.12 ERA. He walked just 11 in 78.0 innings. He was promoted to St. Lucie in late June and finished 2011 in the Florida State League. At High-A, he went 5-4 with a 3.97 ERA.

RHP Yohan Pino (0-0, 3.86) takes the mound for the third time this season with the Fisher Cats. In his first start of the year for New Hampshire he allowed three runs on three hits over six innings in a no-decision against the New Britain Rock Cats on April 20. Pino made one relief appearance with the Fisher Cats on Opening Day before being promoted to Las Vegas (AAA) for one start. He was returned to the Fisher Cats on April 16. The righty was acquired by the Blue Jays in exchange for cash con-siderations from the Cleveland Indians in April 2011.

SNAPPING OUT OF IT: Matt den Dekker’s run scored in the first inning last night was the first run the B-Mets had plated against the Fisher Cats in over 22 innings. The streak spanned two shutout losses to New Hampshire.

HOMECOOKING: Over the first six games of the homestand, the B-Mets have hit .338 as a team (68-for-201). They have reached ten hits or more four times and are averaging 11.3 hits per game.

UP IN THE RANKINGS: Binghamton started the homestand ranked last in the Eastern League with a .229 team batting average. They now sit third in the league with a .266 collective batting average, an increase of 37 percentage points.

SERIES WIN: A win tonight would secure Binghamton’s second straight series win.
