Mets Fall to Charlotte 5-1

PORT CHARLOTTE, FLA. — Kes Carter had a go-ahead two-run single and the Charlotte Stone Crabs scored four runs with two outs in the seventh to get past the St. Lucie Mets 5-1 on Tuesday.

Dustin Lawley launched his league-leading 18th home run of the season leading off the seventh against former New York Mets reliever Ramon Ramirez  to tie the score.

Tapia allowed two hits and a walk with two outs in the seventh. Cody Satterwhite, who was acquired from Sioux City in the Independent League, made his St. Lucie debut with the bases loaded and gave up a two-run single to Carter. Carter's groundball went off the glove of first baseman Nelfi Zapata on a diving attempt.

Tapia pitched very effectively despite being charged with four runs in 6 2/3 innings. He struck out six and walked one.

Hamilton Bennett retired the side in order and pitched a scoreless eighth.

The Mets visit the Stone Crabs on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. Hansel Robles will make the start for the Mets.
