Draft 14 - An Early Look At: Spencer Adams, RHP, White County HS (GA)

draft - spencer adams

19th RHP - Spencer Adams

7-24-13  -  Spencer Adams, rhp, White County, Cleveland, Ga./Team Elite - The 6-foot-5, 180-pound Georgia commit has a lean, angular frame with wide shoulders and a tapered waist. Adams uses a loose, easy arm action to deliver his fastball at 90-92 mph, touching 93. Adams hides the ball well with a compact arm arc and the ball jumps out of his hand. He is a consistent strike thrower and gets armside run and sink from a three-quarter slot. His mid-80s slider has some depth and he mixes in a low-80s changeup. A natural athlete who fields his position well, Adams is capable of above-average run times and has seen some action in center field. http://www.baseballamerica.com/draft/tyler-koleks-heavy-fastball-among-tournament-of-stars-standouts/

7-25-13 – Top 30 High School Prospects For 2014 Draft - 24. Spencer Adams, RHP, White County HS (GA) - 6'5/185, Draft Day Age: 18.15, Georgia commit, Full Report - Quick Take: Adams is one of my favorite projection bets in this year's class, with a near ideal frame, athleticism, delivery and arm action to go with advanced feel for his off-speed stuff. Adams will sit 89-92 mph in short stints with and above average slider and changeup. His velocity will dip some in deeper outings but many first round arms have been much worse at this same juncture without as promising signs for improvement. http://sbb.scout.com/2/1310090.html

7-26-13 - Player:  Spencer Adams  Primary Position:  RHP  Secondary Position(s):  SS  Height/Weight:  6’5/180  Bats/Throws:  R/R Home Town:  Cleveland, GA  School:  White County Class of:  2014 Committed To:  Georgia = Scouting Notes: = 2013 Tournament of Stars notes from Don Olsen: - Spencer has a tall athletic frame with narrow sloped shoulders in a Kevin Brown mold.  He throws from a ¾ to a low ¾ slot, has a bit of whip action in transition, but decent three piece delivery without concerns.  He does tend to short up his extension.  Fastball was 87-90 (92) with a bit of tail when thrown from the lower slot.  81-82 mph change was a bit hard without much action, an offering that is still developing.  He had a blend of CU/SL 84-85 mph that showed some decent glove side two way actions, more cutter horizontal tilt.  Intriguing arm speed and strength that could rise as the body fills out and the velocity improves. http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/07/25/2014-mlb-draft-profile-spencer-adams/
