Colorado Springs (66-71) slips by Las Vegas (78-60) 4-3 in Game 1.

 

Starter Jacob deGrom went only 2.0 innings: 2 R, 3 H, (HR)  BB, K. deGrom apparently left the game with some sort of injury, as yet undisclosed.

Justin Hampson: (L, 6-3) 1.1 IP, R, 3 H, 0 BB, K.

Ruben Tejada: 1-2, 2 BB, R.

Mike Baxter: 1-4, 2B, RBI, R.

Eric Campbell: 2-4, RBI.

 

Game 2: Las Vegas (79-60) clobbers Colorado Springs (66-72) 12-8.

 

Daryl Thompson, in his 1st start for Las Vegas: 6.0 IP, 4 R, 6 H, (HR) 3 BB, 6 K.

Jack Leathersich did not have it tonight, allowing 4 R on 3 H and 1 BB without getting an out in the 7th inning. Tim Byrdak, who came in to put out the fire, allowed 2 inherited runners to score on 1 hit before getting the final out of the 7th inning.

 

Kirk Nieuwenhuis: 3-5, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R.

Mike Baxter: 2-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 3 R.

Eric Campbell: 3-4, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R.

Jamie Hoffmann: 2-4, HR, 2B, 4 RBI, R.

Pitcher Daryl Hamilton: 2-4, RBI, 2 R.

 

Binghamton (83-52) bombs Bowie (68-67) 7-4.

 

Mark Cohoon leaves the game after only 2.0 innings: 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 2 K. Like Jacob deGrom in Las Vegas, who left with an apparent injury, Cohoon also is through after 2. Hopefully he did not suffer an injury too.

Hamilton Bennett (W, 1-0) pitched the following 3.0 innings: R, 2 H, BB, 2 K.

Hansel Robles pitches a gem, but gets a no decision : 8.0 IP, R, 3 H, 3 BB, 4 K.

Randy Fontanez (W, 9-7) pitches 2.0 perfect innings with 4 K.

 

Kyle Johnson: 1-5, R.

Cam Maron: 1-2, 2B, R.

 

Rome (71-63) trips Savannah (72-59) 4-1.

Brooklyn (36-32) edges Tri-City (41-27) 1-0.

 

John Gant (W, 6-3) was magnificent, tossing a 1 hit complete game shutout: 9.0 IP, 0 R, H, BB, 6 K. Gant has come into his own in Brooklyn, with a 2.33 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 10.21 K/9 in 12 starts - 69.2 IP. Only his walks are a bit high at 3.23 BB/9.

 

Gavin Cecchini (0-3) had the Cyclones lone RBI, scoring Anthony Chavez (1-3).

 

Kingsport (38-27) tops Bluefield (40-25) 7-6.

 

Robert Whalen: 6.0 IP, 4 R, 7 H, BB, 7 K.

Tyler Bashlor throws a perfect 7th inning with 2 K.

The usually reliable Ricardo Jacquez (BS, 3) allowed 2 runs on 3 hits and 2 walks in the top of the 9th.

Robert Coles (W. 4-1) gets the win after getting the final 2 outs of the 10th: 0.2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB.

 

Jeff McNeil: 4-6, R.

Yeixon Ruiz: 2-6, RBI, 2 R.

 

GCL Marlins (25-33) nip GCL Mets (19-40) 3-2.

 

Craig Missigman (L, 0-4) allows just enough to lose: 5.0 IP, 3 R, 5 H, (HR) 2 BB, 3 K.

Christian Montgomery has a good outing in relief: 0 R, 2 H, 0 BB, 6 K.

 

Jean Rodriguez: 1-4, 2B, R.
