Las Vegas (80-60) holds on to beat Colorado Springs (66-73) 10-7.

Trailing 10-1 after 5 innings, Colorado Springs scores 6 unanswered runs, but falls short.

 

Matt Fox: (W, 8-4) 6.2 IP, 3 R, 6 H, BB, 10 K.

D.J. Mitchell, brought in to finish off the laugher in the 9th inning, can get only 2 outs: 4 R, 4 H, (HR) BB, K. Chris Schwinden came in and got the final out.

 

Kirk Nieuwenhuis: 2-6, 2B, RBI, 2 R.

Mike Baxter: 3-5, HR, 2B, RBI, R.

Ruben Tejada: 3-5, HR, 3 RBI, R.

Dustin Lawley: 3-5, HR, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 2 R.

 

Bowie (69-68) bashes Binghamton (84-54) 13-1.

 

Erik Goeddel (L, 9-7) was blasted: 4.2 IP, 10 R, 12 H, (4 HR) BB, 5 K.

 

Travis Taijeron: 2-4, HR, RBI, R.

 

Jupiter (68-67) slams St Lucie (69-60) 12-3.

 

An off night for Alex Panteliodis: (L, 6-6) 4.2 IP, 8 R, 5 ER, 10 H, 2 BB, 3 K.

 

T.J. Rivera: 1-4, 2 RBI.

 

Savannah (73-59) tops Rome (71-64) 5-3.

 

20 yr old Gabriel Ynoa (W, 15-4) continues to excel: 6.0 IP, 2 R, 6 H, 2 BB, K.

Hunter Carnivale allows 1 BB with 1 K in 1.0 innings of relief.

Paul Sewald (S, 8) earns the save despite giving up a run on 4 H with 4 K in 2.0 innings.

 

Newly acquired Dilson Herrera, in his Savannah debut, goes 2-3, with 1 RBI and 2 R.

Cole Frenzel: 1-4, HR, 2 RBI, R.

 

Brooklyn (37-32) edges Staten Island (29-40) 2-1.

 

Miller Diaz (W, 6-3) follows John Gant’s magnificent outing yesterday, with one of his own today: 6.0 IP, 0 R, H, 3 BB, 9 K. In 12 starts - 69.2 IP Diaz is following Gant’s footsteps in several ways. His ERA is down to 2.01, with a 1.05 WHIP and 111.78 K/9 . He has command problems, however, as illustrated by his 4.31 BB/9.

Cameron Griffin allows an unearned run in 1.2 IP in relief: H, BB. Then Juan Urbina gets the final out in the 8th without allowing a base runner.

Johnny Magliozzi (S, 8) continues to impress, allowing only 1 H pitching the 9th inning.

Ismael Tijerina: 2-4, 2B, RBI, R.

Matt Oberste: 3-4, 3B.

 

Kingsport (39-27) blasts Bluefield (40-26) 9-1.

 

Gaby Almonte, (W, 1-0) in his 1st start for Kingsport, pitches a fine game: 6.0 IP, R, 3 H, (HR) 3 BB, 3 K.

Edioglis Villas (S, 1) gets a 3.0 inning save: 0 R, 0 H, BB, 4 K.

 

Champ Stuart: 3-5, HR, 2B, RBI, 3 R.

Dominic Smith: 2-2, RBI, 2 2B, 2 RBI.

 

GCL Mets (20-40) trip GCL Marlins (25-34) 4-1.

 

Starter Marcos Molina: (W, 4-3) 5.0 IP, R, 7 H, (HR) 0 BB, 3 K.

Four Mets relievers, Ryan Chapman, (BB, 2 K) Waldo Rodriguez, (H, K) Gaither Bumgardner, (K) and Yoryi Nuez (S, 1) (H) combine to hold the Marlins scoreless the rest of the way, with each pitching 1,0 innings.

 

Luis Guillorme: 2-4, 2 RBI, R.

Ivan Wilson: 1-3, BB, 2 RBI.

Can't help smiling over Herrerra's, Smith's & Lawley's debut evenings. I'm sure I'm not the only one.
