Draft 14 - Michael Chavis, Alex Jackson, Zach Shannon, Tyler Beede, Touki Toussaint

draft - michael chavis

8-14-13 – Through The Fence – Top 50 Prospects – 37. Michael Chavis, 3B, Sprayberry HS (GA) - Yet another Georgia kid, the 5’-11” right-hander is one of the best hitters in the 2014 MLB draft. He has also shown some incredible power and won the home run derby at the PG Classic — his last a bomb that ended up in the trees over the left field wall. He runs a 6.68/60 and has the hands, arm and instincts to play shortstop. Should hear his name a lot in the next year. Committed to Clemson. http://throughthefencebaseball.com/2014-mlb-draft-top-50-prospects/36463#mwWwsFxSUZy7YC5V.99

9-1-13 - Jim Callis – 5. Alex Jackson, c/of, Rancho Bernardo HS, San Diego - Plays a premium position, has some of the best power potential in the 2014 crop.

2013 East Coast Pro Showcase Top 50 Prospects    - 26. Zach Shannon – OF/RHP, Anderson (OH) HS - Big power bat and sat 91-93 on the mound. Touched 94. http://www.ninebaseball.org/Wordpress/sullys-top-50-ecp-prospects/

Top 5 MLB Draft Prospects - #4. Tyler Beede, RHP (Vanderbilt):  possesses a quick fastball and a resilient breaking ball, but needs to develop his walk rate. Has clean mechanics and even now has the size for pro ball. At 6’-4” and 215 pounds, the right-hander has the bulk, along with the substance, to be an ace at the next level. He contains a common three-pitch mix with a mid-90s plus fastball with pronounced movement, a plus power curveball and a illusive change-up that freezes hitters. Adversaries hit just .187 against him as a sophomore as his capability to miss bats is astounding. The one knock on him is that he also has a propensity to miss the strike zone. His stuff and make-up are top notch, however, and if he can gain his control as a junior, he could contest Rodon for the top pick. Posted a 2.32 ERA, 1.26 with 103 K/63 BB over 101 innings for the Commodores.  http://bigleaguefutures.net/1/2013/08/30/top-5-mlb-draft-prospects/

8-15-13 - Under Armour All-Star Game – Touki Toussaint, RHP:  Toussaint has perhaps the best prep arm in this draft and is considered a top 10 pick at this point with a chance to move up if he can improve his command.  He can touch 97 mph and complements that with a plus curve that already gives him a second swing and miss offering.  He's not quite as tall at 6'2" but has room to grow. As mentioned,  his command needs a lot of work, but his stuff is potentially top of the rotation. http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2013/08/2014-mlb-draft-ua-game-roster-and-preview-plus-more-tickets-and-meet-up-information/
