September 25th - Mets 1, Reds 0

september 25th 2013Wednesday afternoon at the Great American Ballpark, Daisuke Matsuzaka pitched well for the third straight outing as the Mets beat the Reds 1-0. The Mets scored  their first (and only) run in the top of the 3rd inning.  Wilfredo Tovar hit by a pitch and was sacrificed to 2nd and Eric Young Jr. brought him home with an rbi single. Mat Latos was named the starter last minute, undoubtedly setting up the Reds bullpen for a playoff run.  Latos gave up one run in 7 innings pitched , allowing just 3 hits he walked 2 and struck out 6. Dice K was more than just a tad better.  Matsuzaka  was brilliant. He went 7 2/3 he allowed 4 hits no runs he walked 2 and struck out 6. He gets the win evening his record at 3-3. His era drops to 4.42. Pedro Feliciano pitched out of a jam in the 8th, LaTroy Hawkins pitched the 9th for his 13th save and #101 of his career. Latos takes the hard luck loss. He’s now  14-7. With the win the Mets finish with a 5-1 mark on their last road trip, they finish at 41-40 on the road and go back home to Citi Field with a 73-85 mark needing to win two games to surpass last years won/loss mark.  Thursday night the Mets are back home for the last 4 games of the season against the Milwaukee Brewers. Dillon Gee (12-10  3.53)  looks for this 13th win.  Johnny Hellweg  (1-4  7.43) goes for the Brewers. https://www.facebook.com/MetsForum
