Jupiter 6 - St. Lucie 4



The Jupiter Hammerheads ended a 10-game losing streak by defeating the St. Lucie Mets 6-4 on Tuesdayat Roger Dean Stadium.

Jupiter starter Austin Brice tied his season high of nine strikeouts to get the win. He allowed two runs in five innings.

The Mets struck out a season-high 15 times, including three times in a row caught looking against Brice to start the ballgame.

The Hammerheads jumped on Mets starter Luis Cessa early, tagging him for four runs on five hits in the first inning.

Miami Marlins star Christian Yelich, making his second rehab start, singled and stole second in the first. He came home on Viosergy Rosa’s single.

Jesus Solorzano tripled home two runs later in the inning. The frame was capped off by Ryan Rieger’s two out run-scoring single.

The Mets got a run back in the third when Maikis De La Cruz grounded into a fielders choice to score Eudy Pina. However, Rieger answered in the bottom of the inning with another two out RBI single to make it 5-1.

Rosa’s second RBI single in the fourth made it 6-1 Jupiter.

The Mets plated lone runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh but could never put a big inning together.

Brian Ellington struck out five in two innings of relief. Casey McCarthy pitched a perfect eighth and Reid Redman retired the side in order in the ninth to earn his fourth save.

Eudy Pina went 3 for 4 with two doubles and two runs scored for the Mets.

L.J. Mazzilli hit his second homer of the season for St. Lucie, a solo shot to lead off the seventh that made it 6-4.

Cessa gave up six runs, all earned, in five innings. 

Julian Hilario pitched two scoreless frames with two strikeouts. Jake Kuebler tossed a clean eighth. - team press release
