Now Here's the Scoop:

Las Vegas sent 7-13, 5.19 Matt Bowman to the hill.  His numbers to me scream Mark Cohoon.  He gave up 4 runs in 4 innings, but 12 hits. 12. And 1 walk and no Ks, as he fell to 7-14, 5.31. In 125 innings, 165 hits, 45 walks, just 71 Ks.

Zach Thornton cost them a chance to win, with 3 late runs.
Vegas hitters rallied for 5 later runs, but fell a run short.

The top 4 hitters in the line up (all major leaguers) had 10 hits: Herrera. (.350) and Ceciliani (.347) 2 hits each, Campbell (.375) and Kirk (.324) 3 hits each. Herrera hit his 7th, Ceciliani stole 2 (15). Also, Nimmo had a hit, walk, 2 Ks (.273).

Binghamton played twice, two 7 inning affairs.

In Game 1, the man having a fine season, Rob Gsellman, and in Game 2, Rainy Lara got the call.

Gsellman surrendered a 3 run shot plus another run in 5 innings, but a 6 run second inning pushed the B Mets to an insurmountable lead, as he moved to 13-6 this year.

TJ Rivera fans were happy things came in 3's.  He was 3-3, 3 RBIs, hitting .333. Plus another solid Sewald save (1.67, # 21).

In game 2, Lara allowed 2 runs in five innings. One too many, as the B Met offense put up just one run. A split twin bill.

St Lucie hoped to get a win for Kevin McGowan, a hard luck 6-10, 4.36 coming in. His ERA this year was badly damaged by 2 games in which He surrendered 20 earned runs in 7.2 innings. In his other 21 outings in 2015, his ERA is just over 3.00 but he has just 69 Ks in 128 innings. Tonight, he left with a lead, but took a hard luck no decision.

David Wright rocked, with 2-5.  Bloop to right, single up the middle, and flew out to deep centerq. And Matt Oberste (at 1B in place of Smith) had hits his first 3 times up to reach .300. Stefan Sabol (.266) went 4-4, and 4 RBIs, including a game-winning 9th inning walk off bomb blast over the batter's eye in dead center. Congrats, Stefan.

Savannah hoped to extend its win streak to asweet 16 with 6-3 Casey Delgado. No win tonight. A rain-induced postponement. The other team did not chicken out.

Brooklyn was just 11-25 since a bold 14-5 start, due to a prolonged hitting drought. A 3 run first inning put them out front early for Ty Badamo (know 3-6, 3.53). Ty was great - 6 innings, 2 hits, 1 run, and a win. 3 stellar relief innings.

PJ Cohoon still has not surrendered an earned run, and struck out the side in his one inning. Wow. No Cyclone offense at all after the 1st inning, but the pitching held the fort.

Kingsport got a DAY OFF! Mazelka, Kaczmarski, and Winningham probably hit a local batting range to pass the time.

GCL Mets started 2014 draftee Kurtis Horne, who came in having thrown 16 innings in 2 years - some innings limit there!)  he went the first 3 innings, allowing 2 runs and hits. Luis Carreno allowed the final 4 runs in relief to take the loss.  Des Lindsay was 1-4 (.308).

P.S. Both DSL teams lost. They never hit homers, by the way. Just 27 in a combined 137 games for the two squads.

GOATS: Luis Carreno, Matt Bowman, Zach Thornton

After 20 games, Brooklyn was hitting .231, but in the 36 games since, only .206. Only Vince Siena (2 hits, 2 RBIs, .290's) and Jeff Diehl (.404 OB%) hitting well for the Cyclones. They are averaging 3.4 runs, and have a .306 slug %. David Thompson hitting just .229.
