My exact thought Ernest......

A tribute to Cuddyer's character that he chose to retire when he didn't feel he could contribute enough instead of hanging in one more year to collect $12 million.
Imagine...just walking away from that much money.....

And he turned down an easy what......14.8mil or whatever the QO was last year with Rockies. .......
Maybe he can stay on as a coach or something.

Well....we do have a bench coach opening....

I wonder how much they whispered into his ear to convince him to do that...how much they kicked in under the table and what future position in the organization was promised...

Regardless, that's one less obstacle in the way of signing a free agent or taking on someone earning money on another team's roster with an unplanned extra $12.5 million now available.

Wow Merry Christmas Mets! When does this ever happen? Well now we add this gift to the fact were NOT in the NL central and the Nats can't seem to get out of their own way and there are NO excuses for the FO not to add the pieces we need...YO you listening.

IMO...IT IS CESPEDES TIME, unless he asks way too much.

The word is the Mets bought out that final year. So, in reality (assuming the reports are true), Cuddyer didn't walk away empty handed.
