Richmond 11 - Binghamton 2



The Binghamton Mets bullpen allowed eight runs on 11 hits and the B-Mets were thumped by the Richmond Flying Squirrels, 11-2, Wednesday night at NYSEG Stadium. Major League rehabber Wilmer Flores was hitless in five at bats and played nine innings at first base.
Richmond scored early and often, striking first on a Rando Moreno RBI single in the second. The Squirrels extended their lead in the third when Austin Slater smacked a two-run home run over the right field wall, making the score 3-0.
Rainy Lara lasted only four innings in the start. He allowed three runs on five hits and walked one with no strikeouts and took the loss, dropping to 2-5.
Binghamton scored its first run in the fourth inning on a Phillip Evans RBI single, scoring Jared King.
The Flying Squirrels padded their lead with a solo home run from Slater in the fifth. Tyler Horan knocked in Christian Arroyo with a single in the seventh then Slater scored on a wild pitch. Hunter Cole followed with a single, scoring Horan to make it 7-1.
Richmond got three more in the eighth, with an RBI groundout from Arroyo, a Slater sacrifice fly and a Horan RBI single. Myles Schroder drove in Ben Turner in the ninth with a single, pushing the score to 11-1.
Binghamton got one back in the bottom of the ninth when Victor Cruzado singled in Phillip Evans. Cruzado went 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI and Evans finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run.
