Dave Duncan Might Be Available Even If LaRussa Stays!

Some interesting news out of the Belleville News Democratic View about the Tony LaRussa and Dave Duncan situation with the Cardinals. Here is the quote:

"What will happen with La Russa's coaching staff is a more complicated question. Pitching coach Dave Duncan is a big head scratcher. He's La Russa's closest lieutenant and they have never been apart. But Duncan's bitterness over the handling of his son, Chris Duncan, runs deep and it wouldn't be surprising if the Cardinals find themselves shopping for a pitching coach even if La Russa does come back."

With that knowledge in hand, do the Mets make a move on arguably the best pitching coach in baseball? After watching Mike Pelfrey regress this year, I for one am no fan of Dan Warthen - especially after watching virtually the entire Mets staff in 09 struggle. From where this fan sits, it is a no brainer to make a move on Dave Duncan and make a move on Chris Duncan for a bench spot on the 2010 Mets. After batting only .188 with two home runs and ten RBIs at Pawtucket, Boston released Chris Duncan on August 21, 2009. Give him a spring invite and add father Duncan's illustrious track record to the Mets coaching staff. Lets be honest- it is far more polished a track record than Mr.Warthen's. It is New York, the Mets need to start acting like that other New York team. Scoop the Duncan's up in a New York minute...
