hits over seven innings with a season-best 11 strikeouts to

earn his 11th win. Dylan Owen pitched well until the sixth

allowing seven runs (six earned) on eight hits over five-plus

innings. Tuffy Gosewich led all hitters with a 3-4 night with

four RBI, including a pair of homers off Owen, who allowed a

season-high three homers in the losing effort. The B-Mets

were outhit 14-5. Josh Satin reached base three times for

Binghamton with a single, a walk and a hit by pitch. Jose Coronado

scored the B-Mets only run in the first inning on a Satin

RBI single after doubling to lead off the game.

GAME 1 STARTING PITCHING MATCHUP: RHP Eddie Kunz gets

the call for his second spot-start in last week. He started for

Chris Schwinden August 21 versus Altoona after Schwinden

suffered a left oblique strain while warming prior to the game.

Kunz proceeded to work three scoreless innings. The righty is

6-7 with a 5.22 ERA over 39 appearances (10 GS) spanning a

career-high 100 innings. He opened the season in the rotation

and is 4-3 with a 4.96 ERA as a starter (49 IP). Last year,

Kunz made 40 appearances for Buffalo (AAA) with a 4-5 mark

and a 5.02 ERA in 61 innings. He functioned as the B-Mets

closer in 2008 when he racked up 27 saves. The righty was

taken by the Mets in the supplemental first round (42nd overall)

of the June 2007 draft out of Oregon State.

LHP Yohan Flande is due to make his team-leading 26th start

of the season in Game 1. He garnered a no-decision in his last

start, August 23 at Richmond, when he allowed three runs on

eight hits over five innings. Flande is 9-7 with a 4.52 ERA over

145.1 innings, the fifth-most in the league. He split 2009 in

between Clearwater (High-A) and Reading making 26 total

starts with an 11-5 mark and a 3.48 ERA over 152.2 innings.

Flande is a member of the Phillies 40-man roster and pitched

for the World Team in the 2009 Futures Game. He was signed

by Philadelphia December, 13, 2004 out of the Dominican

Republic and is considered the No. 17 prospect in the Phillies

organization by Baseball America
