Team Recap: - Brevard County 19, St. Lucie 9

The St. Lucie Mets rallied from a five run and a four run deficit but could not hold off a strong offensive attack yielding eleven runs over the final three innings in a 19-9 loss to the Brevard County Manatees Tuesday morning at Digital Domain Park. The ten run loss was the Mets worst loss of the season. St. Lucie is now 25-14, four games ahead of the second place Ft. Myers Miracle in the FSL South Division.



Tobi Stoner got the start for the Mets and was roughed up early. The Manatees scored three times in the first and twice more in the third to go up 5-0 early. St. Lucie would battle back. Wilmer Flores hit a two-run home run in the Mets half of the third and Stefan Welch hit a solo homer in the fourth to make it a 5-4 game. The Manatees would plate three more runs in the fifth inning ending Stoner’s outing with the Mets trailing 8-4. A five run sixth inning keyed by a two-run single by Pedro Zapata and a three-run triple by Cesar Puello gave the Mets a late 9-8 lead. The Manatees responded blowing the game open with eleven runs over the final three innings to make it a 19-9 game. Manatees designated hitter Brock Kjeldgaard was a monster hitting two towering home runs while driving in seven runs.

The Mets offense showed up to play with 12 hits on the day.  Welch had three hits, two runs scored and an RBI including his fifth homerun of the season. Zapata had two hits while scoring once and driving in a pair.  Puello drove in two and scored twice and  Flores had two RBI and scored. Jefry Marte had a three hit day for the Mets.
