Sandy Alderson Lays Out 2012 Mets Game Plan with SNY

Sandy was on with Ron and Gary last night. Give him credit for being rather transparent- no smoke & mirrors with him. In a nutshell, here is what the lay of the land looks like:

1) 2012 closer may come from outside of the organization, or be a minor league player. You got the sense he has his eyes on someone in the minors. Also, is it me or is this not a ringing endorsement for Mr. Parnell, who by the way, blew his opportunity to close!
2) Sandy hung the Mets slide from contention on the loss of Daniel Murphy. Yes he can hit, but he cant field or run the bases. He has too many mental lapses for this blogger. But it would appear Murph is in the plans for the Mets next year. A Murphy-Bay-Duda outfield would bring the lumber, but also bring allot of unneeded gap hits. Let's hope Alderson is not committed to this Bay in CF experiment! Scary!
3) Sandy seems pleased with Ruben Tejada's development. I agree!
4) Same starting staff as this year, with Johan Santana. Seems about right, although I question whether Mike Pelfrey has the marbles to handle New York.
5) Where there is smoke- there is fire! Sandy alluded to some changes to the OF dimensions which would give credit to some of the online rumors we have heard.

In a nutshell, expect the Mets to try to resign Reyes / find an alternative quick. Get a closer and rework the bullpen. Other then that? Might be a quiet off-season in Flushing, as they build from the farm up! I have one simple request...can the Mets please stop marching DJ out there?
