Plawecki to Represent Mets at Futures Game

Binghamton Mets catcher Kevin Plawecki will play for the US Team at the SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game on Sunday, July 13 at Target Field in Minneapolis. Plawecki will be joined by former B-Met pitcher Noah Syndergaard.

The Futures Game, entering its 16th year in existence, puts the top prospects in the game on the national stage during Major League Baseball’s All-Star Week festivities.

Plawecki, 23, has lit up the Eastern League in his first year at Double-A. In 58 games, he has collected six home runs, 18 doubles, 43 RBI and compiled a .326 batting average, the eighth-best in the league. After a quiet start, the Carmel, Indiana native came alive in May, hitting .359 with five home runs and 28 RBI in 26 games. Plawecki was selected as the 35th overall pick in the 2012 draft out of Purdue University.

I think they should have a rule that guys can't go twice. Thor going is nice, but I'd rather see some other guy (Met or not) get a shot.

Wonder if this guy is our catcher for the next 10 years. He hits hard at every level.
