St. Lucie 4 - Bradenton 1

St. Lucie pitcher Ricky Knapp didn’t have his best stuff, but he managed to pitch the Mets to a 4-1 win over the Bradenton Marauders on Friday at Tradition Field.

Knapp surrendered a double to Pablo Reyes to start the game and Reyes scored on a ground out. That would be all for the Marauders. Knapp allowed nine hits but buckled down and got through six innings.

The Mets defense turned two huge inning-double plays in the fourth and fifth with one out and runners at the corners. Knapp finished his outing by striking out two batters in the sixth.

Kevin McGowan earned his second save by throwing three hitless innings of relief. He struck out four.

The Mets tied the game 1-1 in the third when Amed Rosario blasted a two-out RBI double that plated Champ Stuart.

A single by Tomas Nido in the fourth scored Wuilmer Becerra, who started the inning with a double. The Mets added two more runs in the inning on a two-out, two-run double by Stuart that made it 4-1.

Bradenton starter Alex McRae lasted just four innings and took the loss.

Stuart, Rosario, Becerra and Nido had two hits apiece.

Notes: The Mets have won two in a row for fourth time this season. They have yet to win three straight…Knapp is 3-0 in three appearances (two starts, one relief appearance replacing rehabbing Josh Edgin)…McGowan has not given up a run in his last four appearances…The Mets are 3-3 on their current eight-game home stand. They are 6-6 overall at home…The Mets have played 12 home games, most in the FSL…Becerra extended his hitting streak to six games, tying John Mora for the longest streak by a Met this season…Phillip Evans was promoted to Double-A Binghamton after Thursday’s game.

Next Up: The Mets (10-6) host the Marauders (7-9) on Saturday at 6:30 p.m.
